UCELIA specializes in engineering complex, thin-walled, and multi-core parts through 3D sand printing, casting and solidification. We cast components of all dimensions, weighing from a few hundred grams to 1.5 tons, and we produce the largest aerospace aluminium sand castings on the market.
Our large monolithic structural castings offer a better fatigue life than the similar fabricated sub-assembly. With the greatest thermal processing capacity in the aerospace sector, we develop specific treatment cycles and alloys whose mechanical properties are often superior to those of the competition.
At Ussel, we use sand to cast aerospace parts up to 3 meters long and 1.5 tons weight, such as aircraft doors and engine casings. Our highly skilled operators employ low pressure pouring to cast large, complex and thin-walled parts, while UCELIA’s two big furnaces provide great capacity and flexibility.
Sand casting lowers manufacturing costs and lead times, and offers other advantages such as consistency of pouring conditions, flexibility of thermal gradient monitoring, high feeding overpressure, and dimensional precision. Integrating several functions in a single casting reduces the number of fasteners, to improve a part’s static and dynamic behavior.
At UCELIA, we use sand to cast aerospace engine components and other complex aluminium alloy parts. Our highly skilled operators employ gravity pouring or low-pressure injection to place molten aluminium into chemically bonded sand molds.
The process is extremely precise while offering the weight and cost benefits of casting.
Our state-of-the-art machinery allows us to perform the latest simulation, computer modelling, and rapid prototyping techniques, for the best quality products on the market.
We work concurrently with our customers to develop innovative, customized solutions for highly complex parts. We can drastically reduce the product development cycle time, by using our casting simulation software and our 3D sand printer.
Founded in 1938 in Ussel in the Corrèze department of France, our chemical-sand aluminum foundry began supplying the aerospace market in the 1980s. We became a major player in 2016, when we began supplying parts for the first CFM LEAP 1A & B engines. Today, the biggest names in the aerospace industry place their trust in us.
